Harry Potter Wedding Touches

Austin and I are huge Harry Potter nerds, so it should come as no surprise that we had to give our wedding a few magical touches! I knew, however, that I didn't want it to be too over the top---no dress robes for the groomsmen or wands at the ceremony. Just little touches that only a true HP fan would notice.

This started with the invitation, pictured below. I found a Marauders' Map wedding invitation template online and customized it with our information. We finished them off with a real wax seal (those took forever, let me tell you), which was the perfect touch!

Though it can't be shown through pictures, our ceremony had a dash of HP as well. Austin and the wedding party walked down the aisle to "A Window to the Past" (think Harry and Lupin talking on the bridge in HP #3), and after the vows were exchanged, we all exited the garden to "The Quidditch World Cup" (HP #4). I will give Austin all the credit for the music choices because he seriously nailed it!

As for the decor, there was a lot of DIY involved. I ordered a plain "Always" wedding cake topper on Etsy and painted it myself. I also printed the "Please sign our guest book" and "Cards and Gifts" signs on actual Harry Potter book pages, mounted them, and then framed them in a couple fancy looking frames I found at Hobby Lobby. We found a feather quill on Amazon for our guests to use to sign the guest book, and the guest book itself was purchased in Diagon Alley at Universal Studios Orlando during our most recent visit. I also printed the bar menu on a parchment paper background and in traditional HP font.

The cherry on top, however, was the venue itself. I mean, it was a castle for crying out loud, can you get more wizardly than that?! Once again, I have to give Austin credit for finding this venue (a simple google search of "castles near Seattle" did the trick) and talking me into it! It had huge wooden front doors, a giant chess set, a fancy staircase, and even thrones. It was an absolute dream, and it could not have been more perfect!
